week 12: story telling

Once upon a time, there existed a small village. This village was same as any village. The village itself was only about one hundred people big. It had its farmers, warriors, husbands and wives just like any other place. However, this village had a deep dark secret that never let it prosper. Deep in the jungles next to the village live countless of demons. The warriors of this village grew strong and slayed almost every demon they came upon. Even though these men were swift and power, there was one demon they could not beat. The demon known as Raftel was being made of pure evil. The demon stood at seven feet tall and had human like form only stained in the blackest of black. The first thing you would see would be its piercing red eyes followed by malicious looking smile brought upon by it never ending appetite.  It sought nothing more to kill whether it was women or children. Warriors from different villages and cities would come by to challenge the demon but none of them would return. What made Raftel different from the others was not his strength or magical powers but his sheer speed. It has always been said that the demon could behead a man from a hundred meters away before the man noticed Raftel moved. there was one thing stopped this village getting slaughter. Where ever raftel came from he brought alone his hubris. He demanded that the village had two choices every month. They could offer one child as sacrifice or bring a warrior who could entertain Raftel. Years went by as Raftel stood undefeated and many mothers lost there children. However one fateful day a man arrived named  Khandoba. The man was renown across all small villages in the area because of his swordsmanship and unyielding tenacity.  Just by looking at him, you knew he was different from everyone else. The man was stronger than elephant and  Khandoba was the faster than the blink of an eye. Only armed with a shield and sword, He made his way into the dense jungle. "Raftel, Where are you! If you would like to meet your end meet me face to face," yelled  Khandoba. In seconds notice Raftel appeared inches away from  Khandoba's face with his piercing red eyes and his devious smile.   Khandoba did not flinch, he stood their strong glaring back at Raftel. They both jumped back as  Khandoba began drawing his sword. "Come..." spoke Raftel in a deep echoing voice.  Khandoba stroke first but Raftel defended him with his claws. Sparks shot out illuminating the jungle, as the blade touched his claws. clashing of metal on metal could be heard from the village. Fight lasted for hours. It was then did Khandoba managed to cut off one of Raftels arm. Once he was disarmed Raftel stood no chance.  Khandoba moved quick and swift as a gust of wind beheading Raftel in one stroke.

  1. Hi Davis,

I thought your story was interesting. I have never read about the original story but I did enjoy reading your version. I can understand that you had a hard time coming up with your story since your reading for this week was about Hindu Gods. I also liked how in the end Khandoba won against Raftel. Overall, I think you did a great job!

  2. I really like this story! One of the reasons that I like stories like this so much is that “common” people are able to step up and be providers for their families. If you could break this story up into a couple paragraphs it would be a little easier to stay focused. It is hard to imagine any fight lasting anything other than minutes especially at that speed. I bet the fighting must have been intense.
